Description

The village cross located to the west of the Church of St Peter dates back to the 15th century. It is made of dressed stone and features a tapering square-section shaft. The upper part and the cruciform finial were restored in the 19th century. The cross stands on an octagonal socket with square angle shafts that have caps and bases, all resting on a plinth. The base consists of four octagonal steps, with the lowest step having a drip. This structure is also a Scheduled Ancient Monument, listed under Somerset County No 306.
