Description

The Old School is a building of group value, originally constructed as a school in 1849, and now used as a house. It is built of rubble with slate roofing and brick stacks, and is in a symmetrical Tudor style. The building has two storeys and is arranged with a 1:1:1 bay arrangement, where the central section projects slightly and is topped with a gable. It features stone-mullioned windows with four-centred arch heads, each window containing two and three lights with casements featuring horizontal glazing bars. A central door opening has a four-centred arch head and a ribbed door, sheltered by a stone porch with a flat roof and coping. The porch also has a four-centred arch outer door opening with a label. A datestone reading "1849 SCHOOL" is visible on the gable face.
