Description

Priory Cottage is a cottage dating from the 16th or 17th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble and features a recent stone-slated roof and restored ashlar stacks. The building has two storeys and three bays, with three-light moulded stone-mullioned windows; one window on the ground floor has a label, while the right bay contains two three-light casements. The central door opening is framed by a freestone surround and has a ribbed door. Inside, there is a large Renaissance stone fireplace in the left ground floor room, which is likely reused, along with fragments of Jacobean panelling and some ornamental plasterwork that includes initials and motifs.
