Description
This byre, located about 10 metres north-east of Dowlish Manor Farmhouse, is probably from the late 18th century. It is constructed from ham stone rubble and features a hipped thatched roof. The long south side of the building is plain, while the north side is mostly open, supported by timber posts of various types that carry collar trusses, some of which appear to be reused. At the west end, there is an enclosed section with two boarded doors in heavy frames. The interior has a cobbled floor throughout, with an upstand for mangers along the entire south wall. The building is approximately 45 metres long and is aligned with the great barn, contributing to its significant group value with Dowlish Manor Farmhouse.
