Description
Mullions is a house dating from the 16th to 17th century, constructed of random rubble with double Roman and pantile roofs that have ridges of slightly differing heights. The roof on the left features coped verges and there are two brick stacks. The building has a truncated cross-passage plan, with a later adjacent building incorporated to the east. It stands two storeys tall and has three bays on the left and two bays on the right. The left three bays have three-light stone mullioned windows on the first floor and similarly moulded four-light stone mullioned windows on the ground floor, both under stopped labels. The right two bays contain a two-light wooden mullioned window and a 19th-century casement window in an ovolo moulded stone surround on the first floor, with no window openings on the ground floor. The principal door opening to the dwelling is located at the extreme left, featuring roughly chamfered and dressed stone jambs, and a recessed 20th-century plank door with two small glazed lights. Inside, there is a moulded cross-beamed ceiling, a scribed plank and muntin partition with moulded enrichment, and a fireplace set in a broad moulded and dressed stone surround. Additionally, there is a chamfered four-centred arch opening in a dressed stone surround, a winder staircase, and exposed ceiling beads with stepped stops.
