Description
Sunnyholme is a house that dates back to the 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed from random rubble and features a slate roof, with a short section to the left that is of lower height, topped with a coped verge and pantiles. The building has two brick stacks and a truncated stack at the extreme left.
The layout follows a cross-passage plan, though it has been significantly altered over time. The house is two storeys high and consists of one bay on the left that is set back, followed by three additional bays. On the first floor, there is a three-light ovolo-moulded stone-mullioned window with leaded lights, along with two further two-light casements that have glazing bars. The ground floor features two and three-light casements with glazing bars; the third bay from the left has a moulded stone surround and a stopped label, while the fourth bay includes a glazed door.
Adjacent to the third casement from the left, there is a door opening framed by a plain dressed stone surround. Another doorway, which has a chamfered dressed stone surround with a four-centred head, contains a 20th-century reproduction ribbed door. Inside, the house has a chamfered cross-beamed ceiling, a fireplace set in a dressed stone surround, and a cast iron range that features Art Nouveau embellishments.
