Description
Chantry House, formerly known as Croscombe Country Club and previously listed as Lyndholme, is a house that served as a club at the time of listing. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed and squared rubble with chamfered quoins and features a slate roof with coped verges and end brick stacks on projecting rubble bases.
The symmetrical frontage consists of three storeys and three bays, with 9 and 12-pane sash windows of decreasing height set within stone architraves. The central entrance has a semi-circular head door opening, a fanlight with radiating glazing bars, and an open triangular pediment supported by pilasters. The door itself is a six-panelled design, with the bottom two panels covered to create a single panel appearance.
