Description
The gate pier at the corner junction with Wesley Close is an early to mid 19th century stone structure. It is the only surviving gate pier of four that were part of a grand design by Thomas Bunn, a notable local solicitor, intended to create a crescent to rival Bath's Royal Crescent. The pier has a circular plan and features rustication between four plain pilasters. It is topped with a moulded capital on console brackets, with raised dies at intervals, each adorned with a carved anthemion motif.
