Description
Number 3 Wesley Slope is a building dating from around 1863, designed by architect W J Willcox, as noted in "The Builder." This two-storey structure is built of rubble with ashlar quoins, bands, and dressing. It features two bays, with a gable on the left side that has an arched recess on the first floor above two windows, and a pierced circular vent above. There are three windows below, all with "Caernarvon" arches and moulded lintels. To the right, there is a half-glazed door with a pointed doorway and a circular pattern fanlight above, topped with a gablet. The doorway is set back and has two lancet windows to the right, which have corbelled hoods and are separated from the doorway by a squat column. The right-hand return has a projecting gable with an arched recess for a second-floor window. There is also a two-storey extension to the right that is angled to the gable and features a corbelled corner. Numbers 1, 1A, 2, and 3 Wesley Slope, along with the school, create an interesting group with an overall Gothic design.
