Description

The building is a schoolroom dated 1875, located about 10 metres west of the Stoke sub Hamdon United Reformed Church. It is constructed of coursed rubble made from Ham stone, with ashlar dressings, and features a Welsh slate roof set between coped gables topped with finials. The schoolroom is single-storey and consists of five bays. It has cusped lancet windows that lack labels but are topped with soldier arches made of alternating ashlars and boasted stones. The central bay contains a doorway with a plain chamfered-pointed arch, featuring a boarded door with Gothic style hinges. The foundation stone was laid by Richard Southconbe on 9th September 1875. The building has group value with the United Reformed Church and the Manse, contributing to the overall architectural complex.
