Description

The Manse to the United Reform Church is a house likely built in 1866, possibly designed by Robert C. Bennett. It is constructed from Ham stone ashlar and features a Welsh slate roof with coped gables and cross finials, along with ashlar chimney stacks. The building has two storeys with attics and consists of three bays, with the first bay projecting.

The windows are plain sash types set in pointed archways, with paired windows in the upper bays one and three. The third bay is slightly gabled and features Gothic-style columns between the windows, along with a double-arched label that has foliage stops. There are cusped triangular gable vents above these windows. The second upper bay has a single plain lancet window.

On the ground floor, bay one has an angled bay window with segmental-pointed window arches and a hipped stepped stone roof. Bay three contains a pair of shouldered arched windows, while bay two features a pitched roof porch with the ridge parallel to the facade. The porch has a stone slab roof with an ornamental eaves course and ridge, and three cusped lancets with Gothic columns between them on the front. The door is set in a pointed arch on the north gable. The other elevations match the main facade, and the north elevation also has a matching angled bay window. The interior has been partly seen and appears to have no significant alterations.
