Description
New Road Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations from the late 18th or early 19th century. It is constructed of colourwashed Flemish bond local brick, featuring raised verges and roofs made of double Roman and plain tiles, along with a 19th-century box dormer and brick stacks. The building has two storeys, three bays, and an attic, with a projecting first-floor band and 16-pane sash windows that have brick voussoirs and emphasized stone keys. The central door opening contains a six-panelled door, with the top four panels being glazed, and is sheltered by a gabled brick porch. There are single bay outshuts on each side, which are lower in height and contain 2-light casements with brick voussoirs and glazing bars. The rear elevation features a slate roof with a catslide, while the front elevation shows evidence of blocked former window openings. Inside, there are notable features such as panelled doors, chimney pieces, and remnants of an early staircase with splat balusters.
