Description
The Paul monument is a chest tomb located about 14 metres north of the chancel of the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Ashill, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of Ham stone and features a stepped base and a moulded plinth. Each face has one fielded panel, flanked by fluted pilasters. The shallow hipped top has moulded coving and rounded leading edges. On the north side, there is an oval plaque with fan corners that commemorates John Paul of Whitelactington, who died in 1803.
