Description
The Firs is a detached house dating from the 17th century, possibly refronted in the 19th century. It features a ham stone ashlar facade, with coursed rubble on the sides and rear. The western portion has a Welsh slate roof, while the eastern side has plain clay tiles, which may have replaced thatch, and both ends and the center have stepped coped gables. There are brick chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high with an attic and consists of five bays.
The first two bays have three-light horizontal-bar casement windows beneath stone lintels with false triple keystones, and there is a straight joint to the right. The remaining bays feature ovolo-mould mullioned windows set in chamfered recesses without labels, with three lights above and four lights below, likely from the 19th century. In the lower part of bay four, there is a six-panel door with toplights, situated in a deep reveal with a stone architrave. The west gable includes three-light ovolo-mould mullioned windows with labels on the ground and first floors, along with a blocked two-light window with a label in the attic, which appear to be from the 17th century. The interior has not been seen.
