Description

Bank Farmhouse is a former farmhouse dating to the 17th century, with partial reconstruction following a fire in the 19th century. It is constructed of rag stone coursed rubble, with a brick facade in an English garden wall bond. The roof is of plain clay tiles between stepped coped gables, likely replacing thatch, and features brick end chimney stacks. The farmhouse is two storeys high and originally three bays wide. It has a stone plinth and retains steel horizontal bar casement windows with augured shutters, each under a gauged brick flat arch. A 20th-century fully glazed door is set within a plain ashlar surround, with a timber and tiled open porch. An east-facing extension constructed of stone with a hipped roof provides two bays, with 2-light horizontal bar casement windows and a blank upper bay. A lean-to extends from the east gable. A small stairlight is present at ground floor level on the west gable, along with an outshot and lean-to to the rear. The interior was not inspected.
