Barrington Court Cottages

Barrington Court Cottages is a row of six cottages located in the grounds of Barrington Court, built around 1921-1925 by the architects Forbes and Tate for A.A. Lyle. The cottages are constructed from rubble with thatched roofs and feature ten tall rubble stacks with flat cappings. Designed in a picturesque Tudor style, the symmetrical front consists of a layout with one central bay flanked by six bays, arranged as 1:6:1:6:1. The cottages are two storeys high and have one, two, and three-light metal casements set in freestone surrounds with labels. The outer bays project slightly, while the central bay includes a shallow porch with a front-facing gable. There are six door openings with moulded stone surrounds featuring 4-centred arches, labels, and plank doorways. The porch leads to a throughway, also with a label, and there are four thatched dormers on the rear elevation.
