Motor House With Flanking Ranges To North East Of Barrington Court

The motor house with flanking ranges is located to the northeast of Barrington Court and was built around 1921-1925 by Forbes and Tate. It features coursed rubble construction with tiled roofs, coped verges, and tall squared rubble stacks, all designed in a Tudor style. The building is single storey with an attic and consists of seven bays, with the first, third, fifth, and seventh bays under front-facing gables. The central unit is set back and has walls leading to the motor yard, which is adorned with four heraldic lions-couchant at the front. Inside, there are openings to garages with plank doors.

The wings of the motor house have 2-light stone-mullioned windows with labels, arranged in groups of three on the ground floor. Each wing features a 4-centred arch door opening in a moulded surround, with a plank door on the right and another door on the left that leads to a throughway with an arcade of five columns at the rear. The roofs include hipped dormers with tiled cheeks and 2-light casements, which have square-paned leaded lights.
