Description

The building is a wing to Barrington Court, originally stables, dated "1674" and embellished in 1760. It was altered between 1921 and 1925 by architects Forbes and Tate for A.A. Lyle. Constructed of brick with Hamstone dressings, it features hipped plain tile roofs and tall grouped brick stacks along the ridges. The structure is U-shaped, surrounding a stable yard that has been transformed into a quadrangle with a central 'fountain court'.

The south-east front remains largely unchanged since 1760, consisting of two storeys with a layout of three bays, one bay, and three bays. It has semi-circular head windows with imposts and keystones, except for a square-headed window in the center of the first floor, which is topped with a pediment. There are door openings on each side, each with a triangular pediment, and twin central semi-circular head carriage openings that have been glazed.

The west front, designed entirely by Forbes and Tate, features a layout of one bay, three bays, one bay, three bays, and one bay. It includes small square windows on the first floor with architraves and triple keys, and semi-circular head openings on the ground floor with keys and imposts, predominantly featuring French windows. The central 'fountain court' includes a pool and carved figures, with mullioned and transomed windows.
