Description
The Main Stable Block at Brocklesby Park is a Grade II* listed stable block, built in the late 17th century or 18th century, featuring a quadrangular court. The side walls and boxes were rebuilt around 1866. The structure is made of red brick and has hipped slate roofs, with a single storey. The south front has a central section that is advanced and features four bays with a pediment. Above the central door, which has a stone surround with a cornice and keystone, is a clock face. This door is flanked by three sash windows on either side, all under flat rubbed brick arches. At the top of the southern roof ridge is a wooden turret with a circular louvred window, a cupola, and a wrought iron weather vane shaped like a fox. The east front features an advanced centerpiece made of ashlar, with two basket arches and a pediment above that contains a circular light. Although most of the fenestration dates from around 1866, the early rusticated quoins have been preserved.
