Description
This is a road sign dating from around 1910, made by the iron founders Gowshall Ltd of Birmingham. It is constructed from cast iron and steel and stands about 2 meters high. The sign features a triangular hazard shape with reflectors attached by a bolted collar to a circular, hollow post. Below this, there is a rectangular crossroads sign with raised lettering. The name of the iron founders, "GOWSHALL LTD B'HAM," is visible beneath layers of paint in the bottom left corner of the upper surround of the lettering. This sign is a rare example of an early road sign.
