Description

Middle Throop Farmhouse is a farmhouse with origins in the 17th century, significantly modified in the 19th century. It is constructed of local stone rubble with ashlar and red brick dressings. The roof is slate, with a Welsh slate base course; the western end is hipped, and the east gable is plain. The farmhouse has two storeys and four bays. Bays one to three feature small-pane casement windows set in brick surrounds, with a three-light window above and a two-light window below, the lower windows set within segmental arches. A timber garage door is located in the lower bay one, and a plain boarded door with a slim fanlight sits in a segmental arched recess between bays two and three. Bay four has hollow-chamfered mullioned windows set in slight recesses, with a three-light window below and a two-light window above, both without labels. Additional mullioned windows are visible on the first floor of the east gable, along with two early three-light leaded casements. A catslide-roofed extension is attached to the rear. The interior was not inspected.
