Description
Nos 10 and 12 Half Acre is a farmhouse that has been divided, dating from the late 16th to early 17th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. The building features roughcast over rubble and an asbestos slate roof. It has a large external stepped stack on the facade, with a chimney that has been rebuilt in brick, and a brick stack on the left gable end. The layout likely consists of three cells and a cross passage. The structure is two storeys high with a symmetrical arrangement of two bays on each side. The left side has an early 19th-century three-light leaded iron casement window, a 20th-century stable-type door with decorative hinges, and the right side has 20th-century two-light windows flanking a 20th-century plank door. The interiors were not viewed. Despite the extensive alterations, this building is part of an interesting group with Nos 4, 6, and 8 Catwell Street to the right, and No 14 to the left.
