Description

The Methodist Church, located in Williton, was built in 1883. It is constructed of red sandstone, with squared and coursed stone on the front facade, rubble on the returns, Bath stone dressings, and a slate roof with coped verges. The church's plan comprises a rectangular nave of six bays and a chancel, with an organ chamber to the right and a vestry to the left. The front facade is gabled and features a rusticated apex, a rose window, and two arched windows with two lights. Stepped buttresses in the outer bays rise above the roof line as tourelles. The central ground floor is gabled, and contains an arched doorway with double doors flanked by composite columns of pink and white marble. The returns have six bays with lancet windows. Inside, a pointed chancel arch is supported by marble columns, and there is a pine arch braced roof with iron ties. A West end gallery is borne on cast iron Corinthian columns. Contemporary pews are also present. The church contains a stained glass East window and two further stained glass windows commemorating the dead of the last two wars.
