Description
Walney Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that has been extensively altered in the late 20th century. It features roughcast, possibly over cob, and a thatched roof, with a large external stone stack on the left gable end and a brick chimney. The cottage is L-shaped, consisting of two cells and a modified cross passage, with a gabled addition at the rear. It is one and a half storeys high and has two bays. The windows are all late 20th-century leaded casements, with three on the ground floor; the central window was originally the entrance, which has now been moved to the left side, fronted by a single-storey, one-bay addition with a pantiled roof. The interior has not been viewed. The cottage is primarily listed for its group value with the thatched cottages to the west, Nos 15-19, Bridge Street.
