Description
No 15 Bridge Street is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with later enlargement in the 18th century. It is constructed of red sandstone random rubble and features a moulded plinth. The building has roughcast sections on the two bays to the right and on the rear elevation, and it is topped with a thatched roof that is hipped over a projecting bay on the left. There is a brick stack to the left of the cross passage, which rises from the eaves, along with the truncated remains of an external stack on the rear gable end. The cottage has a T-plan layout with two cells and a cross passage, and a wing at the rear that has an addition projecting on the facade. It stands two storeys high and has a one-to-two bay arrangement. The early 20th-century windows are two-light casements, while the projecting wing on the left features an early 19th-century two-light leaded iron casement, with a similar three-light window below it. A plank door is set in a moulded surround under a shared lintel, with the main entrance located centre right, featuring a 20th-century door. The projection at the rear was likely used as a workshop during the 18th and 19th centuries. The interior has not been viewed.
