Description

This is a long terrace of modest early to mid-19th century cottages located on South Street. The terrace comprises numbers 96 to 118 (even). The buildings are two storeys high, with basements towards the south end. The roofs are mainly slate, though some sections have pantiles. The exterior is predominantly yellow brick, with some areas painted. Each cottage generally has two sash windows; numbers 96 and 112 feature 3-light bays extending through both storeys, while number 106 has a projecting 2-light window. The doorways are round-headed, with fanlights and some original 6-panel doors. Curved brackets support semi-circular hoods over the doorways of numbers 96 to 100 (even) and 106. The buildings are included in the listing as a group.
