Description
No. 35 South Road is a house dating from around 1825. It is built of rendered brick and has a Welsh slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has three bays, featuring a symmetrical front. The central entrance is round-arched and has a recessed part-glazed double door from the late 19th century, topped by a fanlight with radial glazing bars. On either side of the entrance are full-height 20-pane sash windows, with 16-pane sashes above, all equipped with projecting sills. The ground floor is sheltered by a verandah supported by openwork wooden columns, with a replacement metal roof. The raised verges have coping that has been renewed at the right end, and there are brick stacks at both ends of the building. Inside, the central stair hall features a curving, open-string staircase with stick balusters and a spiral curtail to the handrail. This house is very similar to No. 37 South Road.
