Description

Theale War Memorial is a First World War memorial dating from around 1920, which was later modified to include the names of those who fell in the Second World War after 1945.

It is made of stone and features a tall, tapering column topped with a carved stone design resembling scrolls resting on carved acanthus leaves. The column is set on a square base that has the inscription: "IN MEMORY OF/ THE MEN FROM/ THEALE/ WHO LAID DOWN/ THEIR LIVES IN/ THE GREAT WAR/ 1914 - 1918/ (NAMES)/ ALSO/ 1939-1945/ (NAMES)."

Both the column and base are positioned on a three-stepped plinth.
