Description

Hambridge War Memorial is a First World War memorial, dating from around 1920, which was altered to include the names of those who fell in the Second World War after 1945.

The memorial is made from Ham stone and stands approximately 3.6 meters high. It features a cross with cusped arms set on an octagonal shaft, which is supported by a tapering square plinth on a three-stepped platform. The plinth is inscribed with the words: REMEMBER / (NAMES OF THE FALLEN) / WHO FELL IN THE WAR 1914 – 1919 / MAY THEY REST IN PEACE / AND THOSE WHO FELL IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR 1939 – 45 / (NAMES OF THE FALLEN).
