Description

The Flyford Flavell War Memorial is a First World War memorial dating from around 1920, which was altered in 2014 to also honor those who fell in the Second World War.

It is made of stone and has a square plan. The memorial features a stone cross that sits atop a tapering square shaft. Below the shaft is an octagonal base that includes the inscription, "IN MEMORY/ OF THOSE WHO/ SERVED IN THE/ GREAT WAR/ 1914 - 1919/ DIED/ (NAMES)/ SERVED/ (NAMES)/ (NAME)/ SEPT. 1943".

The cross and its base are positioned on a large square base that may date back to the medieval period and has chamfered corners. The entire structure rests on a two-stepped plinth.
