Description
23, 25, and 27 Quay Street are three cottages located below street level in Minehead, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with some alterations. The cottages feature painted render over rubblestone and have a 19th-century continuous crested slate roof with exposed rafter ends. There are brick and rubblestone chimneys at the rear of Nos 23 and 25. The buildings are two storeys high; Nos 23 and 25 have a nearly symmetrical two-window arrangement, while No. 27 has a one-window range with a door to the right. Most windows in Nos 25 and 27 have been recently replaced with three-light wooden casements, each with six panes per light on the first floor. No. 25 has similar four-light casements on either side of its door, and No. 27 has a three-light casement to the right of its door. To the left of No. 23 on the ground floor is a low horizontal lead-paned four-light window, which was likely originally mullioned. The doors are from the 20th century. The interiors have not been inspected.
