Description
This is a late 17th and early 18th century shop with a house to the right, with a later, likely early 19th century, extension. The left side of the building is built with painted render over rubble stone, has a plain tile roof, and brick gable stacks. The right side has a hipped tarred slate roof and a rubblestone stack. The original layout comprised two units connected by a through-passage on the left, and a single unit on the right. The left block is three stories high and has a symmetrical three-window facade. The right block is two stories high, with a one-window range. Late 19th or 20th century three-light casement windows are present on the upper floors of the left block, with second-floor windows at eaves level; similar windows are found on the right block. A mid-19th century double-fronted shop fronts the left side, with a late 18th century hood supported by brackets sheltering a central 19th-century door with glazed upper panels. This is flanked by 19th-century fascias above six-light plate glass windows with segmental arched heads. The shop interior features late 17th and early 18th century moulded beams. The rest of the interior has not been inspected.
