Description
No. 6 West Street is a house dating from the late 18th century. It features roughcast and scribed ashlar with fluted end pilasters, a parapet with moulded coping, and coped verges. The roof is covered with double Roman tiles and has two brick ridge stacks. The house has three bays, with 12-pane sash windows on the first floor and 16-pane sash windows on the ground floor, all set beneath stepped voussoirs. The entrance is in a semi-circular headed recess and includes a six-panelled door, a fanlight with radiating glazing bars, and an open triangular pediment supported by engaged Roman-Doric columns. There is a small section of triglyph entablature above each column. It is believed that the core of the building is older than the late 18th-century facade.
