Description

This is a farmhouse, now divided into two dwellings, located in Butleigh. A datestone indicates a construction date of 1647, although the building underwent restoration in the 19th century and has seen alterations in the 20th century, particularly internally. The farmhouse is built of coursed and squared rubble with a pantile roof, coped verges, and three brick ridge stacks. It has two storeys and originally six bays, featuring predominantly casement windows with 1, 2, and 3 lights, generally set under wooden lintols. There is a notable 4-light, hollow-moulded stone-mullioned window on the ground floor right side, with a 4-centred head to each of the four lights, glazing bars, and one sash window. Two door openings are present; a 20th-century door is on the left side, while a studded plank door with a transom is on the right. A two-storey, hipped-roofed wing extends at a right angle to the rear, dating back to the 19th century and built in a Tudor style. This wing has 2-light stone-mullioned windows and a door opening with a moulded surround featuring a 4-centred head and a studded plank door.
