Description
Nursebatch Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1651 on the front, featuring 19th century windows and later alterations. The building is constructed of rubble, rendered, with a pantiled roof and brick gable stacks, along with some double Roman and stone tiles. It originally had a through passage plan and is two storeys high with three windows. All windows are 16-pane sashes, except for the ground floor right and left windows which are 20-pane, and the central window which is a 16-pane sash.
To the left, there is a lower two-storey wing with no windows and battered walls. The right return has a blank gable end, while the left return features two segmental-headed two-light casements and a 20th century window with a segmental head on the first floor. The rear of the farmhouse has two gables that rise nearly to ridge height, each with a two-light casement and a hood mould. The ground and first floors on the left have a late 19th century three-light casement with a hood mould, and to the right, there is a four-pane light with the remains of a hood mould at ground floor level, along with a 16-pane sash with a hood mould on the first floor and a 20th century door.
There is a long single-storey wing running from the rear centre, which has a door with strap hinges on the left side, three two-light casements, and a small gabled dormer. The eaves are finished with two courses of stone tiles, and there is a brick ridge stack. On the right side of this wing, there are three doors and a two-light casement with glazing bars.
Inside, the room to the front left has deep chamfered and stopped beams, a heavy lintel above the fireplace with a 19th century mantel over, and similar beams throughout. There is a newel stair to the left that leads from the first floor to the attic level.
