Description

Manor Cottage, Middle Manor, and South Manor is a manor house that has been divided into three separate dwellings. It dates from the early 19th century and features roughcast walls with a hipped and gabled slate roof, a cornice, a parapet with plain coping, and coped verges.

The east elevation is two storeys high and has a symmetrical arrangement of bays: 2:1:2:1. The first floor has 9-light sash windows, while the ground floor has 12-light sash windows, all with emphasised surrounds and stepped voussoirs. To the left, there is a single bay that forms a two-storey canted bay window topped with a segmental slate roof, featuring a 2-light casement on each face, also with emphasised surrounds and stepped voussoirs.

There are three door openings: on the left and right are 6-panelled doors, with the right door having the top four panels glazed and the left door featuring a half-glazed store door. In the centre, there are French windows set within a moulded architrave. The right return has splayed angles and a plain band at first floor level, with a 12-light sash window with stepped voussoirs on each face at the first floor. The ground floor has narrow Gothic pointed arch windows, with French windows in the centre, each adorned with decorative glazing bars.

Inside, there are many original features, although the plaster cornices have been significantly altered due to internal divisions, and there has been considerable 20th-century alteration to the rear elevation.
