Description
The Wedmore War Memorial is a stone cross built in the 1920s to honor those who died in the First World War, with later additions for the Second World War. It is located within the parish churchyard.
The memorial cross has a hexagonal shape and features a tapering shaft that sits on two moulded plinths and a two-stepped base. At the top of the shaft is a moulded lantern and a simple cross. The upper plinth displays panels with the names of the fallen from the First World War, and the front face is inscribed with the words: "GLORIOUS MEMORY OF THE MEN OF WEDMORE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR GOD AND COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1919." The lower plinth lists the names of those who fell in the Second World War, with the front face inscribed: "AND TO THOSE WHO MADE THE SAME SACRIFICE IN THE SECOND GREAT WAR, 1939-1945."
