Lower Aisholt Farmhouse

Lower Aisholt Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates back to the 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is roughcast with a double Roman tile roof and features three rendered ridge stacks. It has a cross-passage plan and is two storeys high, with four bays on the garden front. The windows are three-light casements with leaded lights. There are two door openings, both with glazed 20th-century doors, and a gabled porch on the left door. At the rear, there are two wings at right angles, mainly featuring casements with leaded lights, along with two earlier wooden mullioned windows. One of the wings has a projecting ashlar stack. Inside, there are two fireplaces, one set in a moulded surround with a four-centred head, a coffered ceiling, and a smoking chamber on the ground floor, along with other lesser features. It is said to be the manor house of Aisholt and is believed to have existed after the 14th century, although it was rebuilt in the 16th century.
