Description
The Old School House is a building that originally served as two cottages, dating back to the 17th century, with alterations and an addition made in the 20th century. It features colourwashed rubble walls and a thatched roof, with one rubble and one brick chimney stack. The structure is single storey with an attic and consists of four bays, showcasing 2 and 3-light casement windows, some of which have metal frames and leaded lights. The entrance has a door opening with a plank door, topped by a thatched bonnet porch supported by rustic posts. A four-bay extension added in the 20th century is not considered of special interest. Notably, this building was the home of the poet Sir Henry Newbolt until his death.
