Description

The Shambles is a structure dating from the 15th century, which has undergone significant reconstruction and restoration in the 20th century. It is made of oak and features a pantile roof. The building consists of four square-section uprights, each supported by a pair of curved braces that hold up a timber saddle canopy roof. A counter made of planks stands 1 meter above the ground. There is a short surviving portion of stalls that once extended the entire length of the Market Place.
