Description
The Helyar Arms Public House, formerly known as the Helyer Arms Hotel, is a public house dating from the 17th century, with modifications made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is rendered with Ham stone features and has a hipped Welsh slate roof, along with brick end chimney stacks. It is two stories tall and has two bays. The windows are hollow chamfer mullioned, featuring rectangular leaded panes and labels above; the upper bay has a 4-light window, while the others have 5-light windows. There is a projecting central stone porch supported by rudimentary Doric style columns and pilasters, topped with an entablature and a flat roof. To the northeast, there is a single-storey extension constructed of rubble stonework with a clay pantiled roof and a brick stack, which includes three casement windows, one of which may date back to the 18th century and features leaded panes. The interior has been significantly altered in the public area.
