Description

The Pigeon House and attached outbuilding, located 4 metres west of the Court House, is a 17th-century structure that likely served as a pigeon house and former barn. It is built from local lias stone that is cut and squared, laid almost dry, with clay pantiles over stone slate base courses and stepped coped gables. The pigeon house has a rectangular plan and features a low boarded door in a heavy frame on the southeast wall. There are indications of an earlier roof, and it accommodates about 1,000 birds under its current three-bay double collar-truss roof. To the west, there is a through-roofed wagon-way, followed by a one-bay stable. The three westernmost bays have been converted into a late 20th-century house, which is not of special interest.
