Description
This milestone, dating from the 19th century, is located on the south side of New Road in Brympton d'Evercy, near Houndstone. It is made of Ham stone and features cast iron plaques. The triangular stone measures approximately 450 mm on each side and stands about one metre tall with a slightly rounded top. The east face has a plaque measuring about 430 mm by 100 mm deep, which reads "ILMINSTER 11," while the west plaque, about 360 mm wide, reads "YEOVIL 2 1/2." The milestone is situated on a modified, non-turnpiked road and may have been relocated.
