Description

Mells Village Hall, originally a tithe barn, dates back to the 14th century and was remodeled and reroofed around 1500. The building is constructed of rubble and features a plain tile roof. It has a rectangular shape with an off-centered gabled projection to the west and buttresses on the east side, which are obscured on the west. The structure has six bays and retains three upper crucks along with the embedded remains of a full cruck blade, showing evidence of windbraces. Details of the rest of the roof are hidden by a 20th-century ceiling.
