Description

No. 9 New Street is a house, part of a row, built around 1470 for Abbot Selwood, with 19th-century alterations. The structure is made of coursed and squared Doulting rubble and features an eaves course and a stone tile roof, along with four brick stacks. It has a cross passage plan and is two storeys high with a basement, consisting of three bays. On the first floor, there is a 2-light moulded stone mullioned window to the left, with each light having a trefoil head. There are also further restored mullioned windows with 2, 3, and 4 lights, and a basement opening to the right. The front door has a 3-centred arch opening in a chamfered stone surround, with paired half-glazed plank doors. There is a corresponding door opening at the rear.
