Description
Selwood House is a house dating from the 18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from coursed and squared Doulting rubble, featuring dressed quoins and a slate hipped roof. The house has three dressed stacks with plain caps, one of which has been rebuilt. The facade is regular and plain, consisting of three storeys and six bays. The plate sash windows are set in chamfered stone surrounds, while the third storey has casements in edge roll moulded stone surrounds. The door opening is nearly central and is framed by a similarly moulded stone surround. The door itself is a 19th-century three-panelled design, topped with a slab hood supported by cut stone brackets. Above the door, there is a reused carved stone panel depicting an angel in relief, which holds a stone shield bearing the initials "I.S".
