Seven Monuments In Churchyard, In Line Beginning About 4 Metres West Of Church Of St Michael

There are seven headstones in a line located about 4 meters west of the Church of St Michael. Most of these monuments date from the 18th century, with the first one being from the early 19th century. The first headstone, which is the most northerly, has a Regency design and measures approximately 800mm wide, 1100mm high, and 120mm thick. It features a segmental arched head and a shaped panel decorated with an urn and foliage, commemorating an individual who died in 1810.

The second, third, fourth, fifth, and seventh headstones share a matching 18th-century style, averaging 800mm wide, 1100mm high, and 120mm thick. They have chamfered backs and their tops display three interlinked semi-circular panels with angel heads flanking an hourglass, except for the seventh headstone, which has a central skull. Foliage decorates the edges of the panels, and some have tasselled center drops. The sixth headstone is similar but shorter, featuring a single semi-circular panel at the top with an angel head flanked by scrolls.

The second headstone commemorates Elizabeth, the wife of Hugh White, who died in 1793; the third is for Thomasin, the wife of John Notley, who died in 1766; the fourth is for Anne, the daughter of John Notley, who died in 1764; the fifth is for John Notley, who died in an unspecified year; the sixth is for Elizabeth Notley, who died in either 1736 or 1756; and the seventh is for Joan Notley, who died in 1749. Each headstone includes additional names.
