Description
The west boundary wall and lychgate to the churchyard of the Church of St Mary Magdalen were built in the 1850s, with the gateway likely constructed later. The wall is made of Ham stone ashlar and features a timber superstructure with a gabled plain tiled roof. It is designed in seven stepped sections, with a chamfered plinth and moulded copings. Small square piers with stepped pyramid caps are located at both the north and south ends. The gateway, positioned towards the south end, has an ashlar base that matches the height of the main wall, with timber traceried sides and ends. The gables are adorned with ornately carved bargeboards, and there is a pair of timber gates on the west side. This structure is an important part of the setting for the Church of St Mary Magdalen.
