Description

The screen wall encloses a farmyard situated south of Manor Farmhouse, on its east, south, and west sides. Dating to the 18th century, the wall is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with dressings of Ham stone ashlar. The wall is approximately 3 metres high, with angled brick copings along its top. At the north end of the east wall, a pair of square brick piers connect to a barn located 60 metres to the east-southeast of Manor Farmhouse. These piers have stone cornice caps and obelisk finials. A round ashlar pier with a corniced cap and pyramid finial marks the southeast corner. The wall then proceeds in a south-western, then north-western direction to enclose a substantial farmyard. The wall has double-curved drops on each side of the piers. The screen wall is of considerable group value when viewed alongside Manor Farmhouse.
