Description
The canal bridge at the entrance to the former canal basin, built around 1836, features coursed and squared lias and ham stone. It has a broad and attractive segmental archway with rusticated voussoirs and keystones. There is a string course at carriageway level and parapets topped with chamfered freestone copings. The carriageway rises over the center of the bridge, which has end piers. This structure is part of the former Westport Canal.
